KZN Inland: Union denies negligence

2012-10-17 00:00

KWAZULU-NATAL Inland Cricket Union CEO Tracy Elliot says there was no negligence on behalf of the union or their ground staff last week when the four-day clash between Dolphins and Knights was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Water getting on to the pitch put paid to any play and Elliot told The Witness that every effort had been made to keep the strip covered.

“Besides the rain, the violent storm and wind was beyond our control, an act of God which thwarted our hard work and hope of a game.

“There was no negligence from us at all and we did all we could to have some cricket played,” she said.

Dolphins coach Lance Klusener yesterday announced an unchanged squad for the four-day clash against the Cobras at Pietermaritzburg Oval starting tomorrow at 9 am.
