KZN Inland coach deploys players to premier league clubs

2013-10-17 00:00

THERE was plenty of action in recent KZN Premier League club cricket. There has also been much interest in and discussion of the allocation by KZN Inland head coach Grant Morgan of his provincial squad players to the province’s various premier league clubs.

Lancashire have been allocated fast bowler Kimeshan Chetty, while Varsity have all-rounder Suhail Razak, wicketkeeper/batsman Abram Ndlovu and left-arm fast bowler Athi Maposa.

Young Natalians are the recipients of the services of the multi-faceted Mbasa Gqadushe, left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi, fast bowler Sinethemba Mjekula and all-rounder Ruan Pretorius.

Newly promoted Masibemunye can call on the talents of Inland captain and all-rounder Shane Burger, fellow all-rounder Kyle Heyns and quality bowling all-rounder Graham Hume.

Reigning club champs Standard have all-rounder Kyle Nipper as well as prolific run-scorers SJ Erwee and Bradley Moses, while Zingari have top-order batsmen Nick Hendrie and Tyler Lortan to call on.

Hard-hitting batsman Matt Hulett has not yet been allocated a new side, as the country cricketers who make up Midlands CC have had to withdraw from the league due to farming commitments and the like in what is now a far busier league season.

There is discussion currently doing the rounds of Midlands’ place being taken by an age-group team that features some of the province’s top schoolboy talent.

Meanwhile, the first round of KZN Inland Premier League action saw Standard beat Young Natalians, Northern Natal defeat Zingari and Varsity outplay Lancashire.
