KZN Inland to host annual Golf Day to raise funds

2013-03-23 00:00

THE KwaZulu-Natal Inland Hockey Association will be hosting their annual Golf Day, sponsored this year by Patient Focus Africa, at Maritzburg Golf Club on April 13 to raise funds mainly to assist financially challenged players to go to national tournaments this season.

An amateur sport at this level, the players — many of whom are students — will have to find the funds for week-long interprovincial tournaments in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape.

The format will be a 4-Ball Better Ball and 9-Ball Scramble.

South African Hockey Association president Mike du Plessis is coming down from Johannesburg to take part, while SA men’s hockey team head coach Charlie Pereira will also be taking part.

There will be a special R50 draw — only 50 tickets and one prize of R500 cash — while goodie bags and cold drinks will be also be supplied.

Every golfer in the main competition will receive a pedometer, and there will be other prizes, while KZN Inland Hockey invite those businesses or individuals interested in assisting these players to also consider advertising opportunities along the golf course or to donate prizes, be it cash or product.

To enter a team, please contact assistant co-ordinator Charmaine Gradwell on 076 991 4621. Janet Edwards of KZN Inland Hockey can be contacted at 082 807 5100 for more information on marketing and sponsorship opportunities.
