2008-07-09 00:00

POLICE are investigating two cases of suspected arson in northern KwaZulu-Natal where two factories were burnt to ashes in the past 48 hours.

A firm was engulfed in flames in the Newcastle industrial area on Tuesday at about 3 pm. Yesterday at about 5 am another fire broke out at a factory in the Madadeni industrial area.

SAPS spokesman Captain Shoes Magudulela said two cases of arson have been opened.

“We have called in forensic experts from Pretoria to investigate the cause of the fire in both incidents. They have collected evidence from the one in Newcastle to analyze. Tomorrow [today] they will visit Madadeni,” said Magudulela.

One of the factories, Uncle Le in Newcastle industrial area, manufactures clothes.
