Three people were seriously injured in a shootout between two Durban taxi protection units.

Police spokesman Superintendent Glen Nayager said that VIP Protection Services saw the Excalbur Security unit at a food outlet in Springfield Park on Thursday. “The suspects arrived in two vehicles and were fully armed. They got out of the cars and approached the victims. An exchange of fire then took place,” he said.

Three people were injured and taken to hospital in a serious condition. Two suspects from the VIP unit were arrested and a pump action firearm was recovered.
