KZN actor sets his sights on presenting top TV show

DURBAN actor, singer and writer Rory Booth is hoping to do KwaZulu-Natal proud and win the chance to be a presenter on Eastern Mosaic.

The 24-year-old has made it into the finals of the competition and is hoping residents across the province will vote for him.

He told Weekend Witness: “I was initially selected as Eastern Mosaic’s viewer of the week by the Eastern Mosaic team. Being awarded the viewer of the week meant that I went straight into the semi-final round.

“The audition process was nerve-wracking but exciting and enjoyable at the same time. We had to learn numerous pieces of scripts from the actual show over a very short space of time and deliver it to the camera as effortlessly as possible.

“The task was gruelling but challenging and the moment I got in front of that camera, the adrenalin just kicked in and I did the best that I could … I hope to make Durban and KZN proud as the new face on the programme. It’s up to you guys, so please vote for me.”

Booth, whose single Make You Happy is getting plenty of airplay on East Coast Radio, is a well-known face to those who regularly head to the theatre in Durban.

He has starred in shows like Bob and Rob, Hamlet, Oliver and Motown Fever.

Eastern Mosaic is screened on Sundays at 11 am on SABC2. If you would like to vote for Rory Booth, go to www.eastern
