KZN flatwater marathon team chosen

2008-05-12 00:00

The usual small group of flat-water marathon enthusiasts turned out at Nagle Dam over the weekend for the KZN trials for the SA Marathon Championships to be held at Witbank at the end of the month.

On Saturday, Cam Schoeman pipped Ant Stott on the line in the senior race, after 32 km together. They will make up KZN’s official challenge in the K1s, and then again together in the K2.

Stuart Waterworth and Stuart MacLaren claimed the top K1 slots on Saturday and then again in the K2 on Sunday, Waterworth winning a very close race with Ben Biggs from MacLaren and a much recovered Clint Cook.

Abie Adie was the only woman’s entrant, and will be racing in the U21 category for K1 and teamed up with Western Province’s Lindy-May Harmsen in the K2. The girls’ category also has a single K1 entrant, Robyn Kime.
