KZN midlands’ school teams announced for KZN interdistrict tournament

THE KwaZulu-Natal Midlands high-school boys’ and girls’ tennis teams have been selected to participate in the KZN inter-district tournament to be held at Kershaw Park in Pietermaritzburg, from Thursday to March 19.

At the interdistrict tournament, the KZN boys’ and girls’ U15 and U17 teams will be chosen to take part in the South African Tennis Association interschools’ tournament, which takes place in Pretoria from March 30 to April 3.

KZN Midlands girls’ hockey chairperson Lyndal Robertson said the tournament director for the Kershaw Park event is Jill Meyer, and that the matches will start at 8.30 am.


Boys’ U15: 1 Mudiwa Llobell (Hilton), 2 Gavin Morris (Hilton), 3 Nick Manchev (Maritzburg College), 4 Sacha Brown (Hilton), 5 Don ­Paterson (Treverton), 6 James Strachan (Michaelhouse), 7 Michael Darroch (St Charles), 8 Mogorosi Badisang (Treverton).

Boys’ U17: 1 Axel Cronje (St Charles), 2 Ferdie Luttig (St Charles), 3 Andrew Darroch (St Charles), 4 Martin Kuzel (Hilton), 5 Ben Philpott (St Charles); 6 Jarron Roper ­(Maritzburg College), 7 Thuba Mzila (Wembley ­College), 8 Peace Zondi (Maritzburg College).

Girls’ U15: 1 Cheney Firman (TWC), 2 Zandi Powell (GHS), 3 Tessa van der Merwe (St Anne’s), 4 Sarah Grenfell (GHS), 5 Kirsten Moody (TWC), 6 Jemma Veenstra (TWC), 7 Catherine Pringle (Epworth), 8 Julia Saulez (St Anne’s).

Girls’ U17: 1 Nicola Deenik (The Wykeham Collegiate), 2 Rachael Barnard (Epworth), 3 Melissa Glutz (TWC), 4 Tess Miles (Treverton), 5 Ellen King (Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School), 6 Christie Bradford (St Anne’s), 7 Cailene Jamaloodeen (GHS), 8 Meshka Asmaal (TWC), 9 Leigh-Ann van der Berg (GHS), 10 Paige Phillips (St Anne’s), 11 Amy Paterson (Treverton), 12 Cynthia Kijjambu (TWC).
