KZN schools squash players named for national tourney

AFTER the final KZN Schools Squash trials, the teams to represent the province were named.

Michaelhouse dominated selections, with eight boys being selected to the three age-group sides. Following are Hilton and Westville, with five players each. Michaelhouse has four players in the U19 section, but only one at U16 level, where Hilton and Westville appear the strongest. In the U14 age group, it is Michaelhouse and Maritzburg College that dominate.

The IPT competitions take place from June 22 to June 26, with the U19 tourney in Cape Town, U16 in Bloemfontein and U14 in Kempton Park.

U19A: Kenyon Smith (Michaelhouse), Luke Stevens (Mhs), Shivaan Salligram (Westville), Shailen Maharaj (Glenwood), Michael Greig (Hilton), James Gouweloos (St Charles).

U19B: Scott Isaacs (Ashton), Nicholas van der Bos (Mhs), Julian Subbiah (Gwd), Christian de Chalain (Thomas Moore), James Laidlaw (Mhs).

U16A: Liam Naidoo (Wvl), Michael Howard (Gwd), Victor Foster (Mhs), Mark Orpwood (TM), Jonty Jewels (Htn).

U16B: Callix Gray (Kearsney), Antony Montgomery (Wvl), Vijay Vishal (Htn), Rhys Ramdas (Wvl), David Burgess (Htn), Jeremy Nelson (*).

U14A: Kiashen Brimiah (Maritzburg College), Stephen Brown (Mhs), Myles Hancock (MC), Sayug Moodley (MC), Taheil Sunker (Wvl).

U14B: Troy Greyling (*), Murray Greene (Htn), Richard Bechard (Mhs), Matt du Toit (Ksny), Ndusimo Zwane (Htn), Rob Melouney (Mhs).

*No school was given.
