Karg accused in court

THREE men charged with the murders of Lorraine Karg, her domestic worker, Hilda Linane, and farmworker Zakhewo Mhlongo at Kamberg on July 21, appeared briefly in the Mooi River Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

They are Nhlanhla Dladla (22) and Velaphi Magubane and Mswe Magubane, both aged 21.

The suspects were not asked to plead to any charges and the hearing was postponed to next Friday pending their applications for legal aid.

A fourth suspect, Colin Maphalala (31), who used to work on the Kargs’ farm, was shot dead earlier this week when he allegedly disarmed a policeman taking his fingerprints at the Mooi River police station and fired a shot. Another officer returned fire, killing Maphalala.
