Katich steers Aussies to healthy total

AUSTRALIA were fighting their way towards a healthy total as the first day’s play of the first Test against the West Indies at the Gabba in Brisbane ended with the hosts on 322 for five in the first innings.The innings was built around a 92 from Simon Katich.

• News agencies Associated Press, Reuters and Agence France-Presse have suspended coverage of cricket in Australia for the second consecutive international season because of a dispute over conditions for accreditation imposed by Cricket Australia. The agencies will consequently not be covering the three-Test series against the West Indies.
