Kearsney open season with 1-0 win over Northwood

2014-07-29 00:00

KEARSNEY College travelled to Northwood on Saturday where a single goal was good enough for them to take the spoils.

For both sides, this was their first matches of the season and there was some entertaining moments.

Northwood started well and dominated play, frustrating Kearsney who battled to find early rhythm.

Throwing everything into attack, Northwood failed to break through as Kearsney’s keeper produced the goods. Indeed, Donald de Cramer had a superb match between the sticks and ensured the sides were still 0-0 at the change.

A change of plan from Kearsney saw them come out hard for the second period. Trystan Tanner put his head down and was full of running, eventually rewarded with what proved the winning goal.

It was a setback for Northwood but they gave their all in searching for the equaliser. However, the bounce of the ball was unkind and they had to settle for second.
