Korea: Msunduzi mayor’s delegation halved

2009-10-23 00:00

MSUNDUZI Mayor Zanele Hlatshwayo will lead a delegation of three other council representatives on a trip to South Korea in November. The visit is in response to an invitation by the South Korean government to establish a city partnership with Pietermaritzburg. The delegation will cover its own travel costs, while some expenses will be covered by the hosts.

The original proposal was that a delegation of six should go. The IFP and the DA objected, saying six delegates would be excessive in the current recession. They proposed that three people go. Exco settled on a delegation of four — the mayor, her PA, senior manager Lulama Mbatha of the human resources unit, and one other to be decided by the mayor and the municipal manager.
