Kotie dies after botched hijacking

2011-01-26 00:00

KOTIE Visser, the Shelly Beach- based newspaper distributor who was shot in an attempted hijacking in December last year, died yesterday.

Visser was hooked up to a respirator in the intensive care unit at St Augustine’s hospital in Durban after she was shot in Westville.

A friend of the family disclosed that the family had been together yesterday afternoon after they had heard the news.

Visser’s son, Schalk, told The Witness a week ago that he and his family had been hoping that his mother would make a full recovery.

Both his parents have died after botched hijackings for their panel vans.

Schalk’s father was shot and killed four years ago in a failed robbery attempt when his delivery van broke down near Durban International Airport.

It is believed the robbers had thought his parents were transporting a consignment of cigarettes — which are worth millions of rands — in their vans.
