Large stash of drugs seized

2014-03-11 00:00

TWO women and a man made a brief appearance at the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court for the possession of a large amount of drugs yesterday.

Lungi Meyiwa, Sonto Meyiwa and Mandla Majola, all from unit 14 Imbali, are alleged to have been busy wrapping heroin, whoonga and mandrax, to the value of R340 000 when they were caught red-handed by the police.

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, commended the Plessislaer Crime Prevention Unit for the arrest of the three suspects.

“There are strong indications that drugs are the key drivers of the lowering of morals which has seen so many rapes and assaults of children and elderly people. Therefore, any move towards eradicating drug-lords and drug pushers is welcomed,” he said.
