Late report delays Bisley

2015-02-11 00:00

AN internal disciplinary hearing into four suspended Bisley Primary School teachers yesterday was postponed to later this month.

The three teachers and principal were suspended in November last year after allegations of corporal punishment and racism at the school.

Vusi Khanyile has since been appointed as acting principal, but this has also met with lots of resistance by some parents and teachers, who demand to have the suspended teachers reinstated.

Last Thursday, Khanyile was chased from the school premises by a group of parents and pupils, and on Friday morning police had to escort him back to school.

Yesterday, two teachers and four Bisley pupils were expected to testify at the hearing, said a senior teacher at the school.

No date has yet been set for the next hearing, but one of the suspended teachers, who asked that his name be withheld, said the postponement was to allow for the completion of a report on the investigation into the matter. The Education Department did not respond to enquiries about the case.
