KWAZULU-NATAL’S Chad le Clos was honoured yesterday after learning that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that he will be an official Youth Olympic Olympic Games (YOG) ambassador. There is less than one year to go to the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympics.

Le Clos was a five-time medallist at the inaugural YOG in Singapore in 2010 and won gold in the 200m butterfly at the London 2012 Olympic Games. He will share his advice and experience with the next generation of YOG athletes and inspire young people to play sport and embrace Olympic values.

Speaking about his nomination, Le Clos said: “The Games were a huge stepping stone for me and helped me enormously in preparing for my first Olympic Games in London … I’m excited to be part of the YOG experience once again.”
