THE leather jacket worn by President Jacob Zuma at the ANC’s national general council (NGC) in Durban in October last year fetched R400 000 when it was auctioned at a Progressive Business Forum sdnner at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand this week.

The dinner was attended by senior ANC members and leading business personalities.

The jacket design bears an ANC logo and ANC colours. Buying one from the ANC online shop would cost between R1 600 and R2 000. A jacket similar to the one worn by Zuma at the NGC is called President No. 1 and costs R1 620.

A source in the Progressive Business Forum, who declined to be named, said he did not know to whom the jacket had been sold or whether the money would be donated to charity.
