Lecture on adaptation

2010-10-12 00:00

PROFESSOR Roland Schulze will give a lecture in Pietermaritzburg this week about “Applied Climate Change Research in South Africa: Detection, Attribution, Projection and Adaptation” as part of the Royal Society of South Africa lecture series.

The lecture will be held at the John Bews Lecture Theatre, Carbis Road, UKZN, from 5.30 for 5.45 pm on Thursday.

Climate change is a reality, and given South Africa’s already variable climate, the country is likely to experience impacts across many sectors, ranging from food security, water resources management, health, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and disaster risk management.

Schulze’s presentation will address aspects of the detection and attribution of climate change and focus on climate projections for South Africa and potential impacts on water and agriculture.

Inquiries: Edith Elliott at 033 260 5455.
