Left-arm seamer Chloe Tryonne key for KZN at Kingsmead

KZN go into their Provincial League final against Western Province at Kingsmead today knowing they have a special talent in 16-year-old Chloe Tryonne.

The left-arm seamer and hard-hitting batter, in her first full season for KZN, has taken 20 wickets in eight matches with a best of four for 12 and a three for 23 in the semi-final defeat of Gauteng.

Starting cricket aged three, the Ifafa, south coast teenager has been inspired by her father Brendan’s love for the game, and caps a memorable debut season with selection for the national side that is set to do duty at the World T20 in the Caribbean in May.

Chloe, described by SA coach Noor Rhode as a “dynamic performer”, is not KZN’s only key player against powerful WP.

Outstanding KZN and SA wicketkeeper/batswoman Trisha Chetty has scored 380 runs in the round-robin stages with a highest of 114 and a 47.50 average. She also contributed a quality 36 in the semis.

Defending champs WP, with three players in SA’s World T20 squad, have lost just once this season, to Boland, while KZN are unbeaten; so this final hangs in the balance.

And while KZN captain Denisha Devnarain must be deeply disappointed not to make the SA team, she will draw great satisfaction if her side wins the final.
