‘Let’s have the truth on Amafa’

2009-03-12 00:00

TELL us what’s really going on with Amafa.

That’s the call from Roger Burrows, MPL of the DA to Premier Sbu Ndebele.

“The chairperson and the council have been fired, the CEO has been suspended, there is allegedly a forensic audit and there are accusations of grave violations and monument despoliation.

“The facts need to be separated from the rumours and accusations most urgently,”said Burrows.

He added, “It behoves the chairperson of the premier’s portfolio committee, Mike Tarr, to call the committee together, summon the heritage section of the premier’s department, the previous chairperson and council of Amafa, the suspended CEO, Barry Marshall, the acting CEO, Prof.

Musa Xulu, and, if necessary, the director-general and the premier, and to allow the committee to question them all — until we get to the actual facts.”

Burrows confirmed that he has written to Tarr, requesting such a meeting.
