Limited-overs competitions: Tough challenges for KZN inland and Coastal

2013-03-21 00:00

BOTH of the province’s teams in the CSA Provincial three-day and T20 competitions, KZN Coastal and KZN Inland, have a challenging four days’ cricket ahead of them.

Inland take on Griquas in Kimberley, while KZN Coastal are up against Gauteng at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

Coach Grant Morgan hasn’t made any changes to the Inland squad that was routed by North West in the three-dayer and bounced back to win the T20 match in Potchefstroom last week.

“The boys have an opportunity to put their wrongs right,” Morgan told The Witness yesterday.

Griquas are second-last on the 14-team three-day log, while Inland are 12th. In the T20 stakes, the Kimberley lads lie in third spot and Inland are in 10th place.

Victory could see the Pietermaritzburg-based team leapfrog a number of sides.

Coastal, buoyant after back-to-back wins over Namibia in Chatsworth last week, face a Gauteng line-up that tops the three-day log, while the Durban lads are in 11th spot.

Gauteng are second in the T20 stakes with Coastal in fifth place, but the Durban lads look like they are hitting their straps as the season draws to a close.

Better late than never.
