2011-07-20 00:00

THE 25th anniversary of the Port Shepstone Lions Show was a great success and enjoyed by thousands of local people and tourists.

Show organiser James Carlsen said they had a “full house” on Thursday night and a great night was enjoyed by all.

Local vocalist Samantha Landers entertained during dinner and comedian Kevin Perkins aka Michael Naicker had people rolling in the aisles.

Said Carlsen, “On Friday night there was also a great turnout and awesome live entertainment by local bands Forthlock & Freezone followed by DJ Paul Almeida and finally the band Goodluck.

“Entertainment continued on Saturday morning where the arena was alive with action.

“Carnage the monster truck and Fever Polocrosse demonstrations were huge crowd pleasers as were the Amazing Race, Country Trax adventure bike training and remote controlled airplane and car demos provided by Denkit Hobbies.”

Saturday evening saw the crowd treated to the best of musical theatre with the show “Kicking it Country”

The Sunday highlight was the Fever Endurocrosse, which was won by Jade Gutzeit.

Having taken the crown for Miss South Coast Queen, Cherie Muller did a cooking demonstration with local chefs Wynand Schoeman and Brad Kavanagh.

Schoeman is the executive chef at Coastlands Hotel and Resorts.

He is assisting the group with its hotels and had a hand in the opening of the new Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel in October last year.

Schoeman said he has a personal goal to be one of the best chefs in South Africa so “that everyone can learn from me”.
