Local R&B star still humble despite Sama success

2009-05-04 00:00

Local R&B singer Bryce Anderson is uncharacteristically humble for a man who is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with in the local music industry.

He won the Best R&B/Neo-Soul award for his debut album Undescribable at the SA Music Awards this weekend.

Anderson says his upbringing in a Christian home is what kick-started his musical career. “I grew up in a musical environment. I started out singing in church.”

He is a man who has not let the success go to his head. Even in his Italian designer suit, he described being in front of the cameras at the South African Music Awards as “awkward”.

“I am extremely shy, but I am working on it. Having hundreds of people screaming your name while strutting down the carpet is a good ego boost,” he said, laughing.
