2010-11-11 00:00

THE Brenda Hunter and Julia Powell Schools of Ballet will be hosting the production, Dance Tribute, in the Hexagon Theatre at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg at 6 pm tomorrow, and at 3 pm and 6 pm on Saturday.

Tickets are R40 and can be booked through the theatre at 033 260 5537.

The dancers, who range in age from three years old to adults, will be performing mostly classical numbers, with some contemporary dance and some worship dance. Numbers include: Sea and Shore Interlude; Cry out to Jesus (a worship dance); Peter and the Wolf; A Chopin Ballade; a tribute to Megan de Beyer; and The Joy of Christmas.

Among the dancers performing in the show are 2010 KwaZulu-Natal award winners Talisha Pienaar and Taryn van Wyk — the winner and a runner-up of the grade five Mabel Ryan Award — and Nosimo Madlala, runner-up for the intermediate award.

Fourteen of the dancers will also be taking part in the Cecchetti Gala Performance at the Hilton College Theatre on November 21 at 2 pm. The other 15 dancers are pupils of Lisa Jennings. To book seats for this show phone 033 383 0126.
