Local beauty in top five

2011-03-22 00:00

Wendy Geza represented the South Coast at the Miss Summer Heat 2011 beauty contest which took place in front of hundreds at the Tropical Nights theatre at the Wild Coast Sun yesterday.

Geza competed in the Teen category of the competition (14-17) and finished in the top five.

The main category (18-25) was won by Chanel Hurlin from the Western Cape, who now automatically qualifies for the interviewing stages of this year’s Miss South Africa contest.

Gillian Habib, the event’s coordinator, said that she was extremely satisfied with the way that the competition had gone. “It went very well and we are confident that we are now in a good position to ensure that next year’s event will also be a success,” she said. “The amount of talent that was involved in the whole production of the contest was unbelievable; there were various people who made it brilliant,” she added.

Habib added that if all goes according to plan, the event will remain on the South Coast next year. “If we can find a sponsor for next year then the competition will definitely be staying on the South Coast. We are absolutely desperate to keep it here,” she said.
