Local celebrities and politicians send out their well wishes

2011-12-24 00:00

CHRISTMAS Eve is finally here. All the gifts are snuggly tucked in stockings, the turkey is stuffed and loved ones have gathered together to share in the festivities. These are the messages of well wishes from local celebrities and politicians to the Weekend Witness readers.

Msunduzi Mayor Chris Ndlela

“I would like to wish all of the workers, residents and visitors in Msunduzi a Merry Christmas. I would also like to thank everyone who has supported us this year. We must take good care of ourselves on the roads and those who will be drinking must obey the law and treat other people with respect. Parents must remember that it will be back to school soon. Life goes on after the festive season so money must be spent sparingly.”

Afrotainments DJ Tira

“I wish people a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, but they must remember not to overdo things. People must behave themselves and remember their limits as they still have tomorrow to live for. Those who have children must remember not to overspend this festive season as it is back to school in January.”

Comedian Riaad Moosa

“Merry Christmas everyone. Thanks for making the Muslims also feel included during the holidays. I was shopping the other day and saw a Halaal logo on a Christmas pudding. Watch my movie material coming out in cinemas on February 2012.”

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Zweli Mkhize

“During this festive season I want to express my sincere gratitude to the people of KZN. South Africans are known to be a nation that has shared fears and hopes. We need to ensure that this festive season we generate thoughts that are pure and we spread sentiments of love. We must show compassion, love and always help the next person during difficult times. Let us share whatever we have with those who are less fortunate this festive season, especially on Christmas. Wishing you and your family a peaceful festive season and prosperous New Year with new hopes and beginnings.”

Singer Jason Hartman

“Christmas is a special time for everyone. It is a time for giving and a time for spending precious moments with loved ones. My wish for everyone is to have an awesome time wherever you are, value every moment. Try not to overspend and don’t drink and drive. We need to be in one piece to tackle the New Year together. I wish you all the most awesome time and let 2012 be a real cracker.”

East Coast Radio’s Breakfast DJ Darren Maule

“It is the season of giving, so my Christmas wish is for you to give yourself a break. Everyone else will be giving you packed shops, traffic riddled roads, complicated in-laws, lots of gift wrapping and hot ovens on hot summers days. If anything this time of year seems to be a time of giving stress. Sometimes it all seems a little too much. So, in giving back to yourself, just take a moment for yourself in all the hustle and bustle and breathe. It’ll all be over soon. If all else fails there are pharmaceuticals designed to help.”
