SOUTH African tennis player Chani Scheepers married her former coach, Roger Anderson, in a private ceremony at Lythwood Lodge in the Midlands on Saturday. Scheepers turned professional in 2000. She ranked 37th in the WTA singles in October 2011.

In July Scheepers reached the second round of the Mercury Insurance Open in Carlsbad, Germany, losing to Varvara Lepchenko, 4-6 2-6.

Anderson, who attended Maritzburg College, was also a professional tennis player, a winner of the Cape Town Grand Prix and member of the South African team. The wedding celebrations began with a welcoming braai on Friday evening attended by the couple’s families and close friends as well as associates from the tennis world. Attempts by The Witness to get an interview with the couple were unsuccessful — WR.
