Lover stabs prison warder

A PRISON warder is fighting for her life in Westville Hospital after she was stabbed 14 times during a lovers’ quarrel.

It is alleged that her boyfriend stabbed her repeatedly, leaving the woman lying in a pool of blood at the residential section of the prison.

He was later apprehended by security guards and police after being pursued on foot for nearly five kilometres.

Police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said that officers were investigating a case of attempted murder.

“We can confirm that Westville police station is investigating a case of attempted murder that happened at Westville Prison. It is alleged that a 35-year-old female was stabbed by the suspect,” he said.

“She was taken to hospital for medical attention. A 38-year-old male was arrested and will be charged for attempted murder. He will appear at court soon.”
