THE mother of two of President Jacob Zuma’s children has dismissed rumours that there are plans for the two to tie the knot, following media reports on the matter.

The Pietermaritzburg businesswoman, Nonkululeko Mhlongo, said yesterday: “I am sure you have read City Press and you saw the president’s comment on the matter. What do you want me to say? The president has commented on the matter and I do not understand what more you what me to say.”

MaMhlongo was reported in City Press on Sunday as being in line to become the president’s fifth wife after she had made a surprise public appearance alongside Zuma’s three wives, fiancée and ex-wife at a the traditional wedding of Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile, in Mthatha two weeks ago.

She said that it was a lie that she and Zuma are planning to get married.

“If I say more on the matter I would be giving [you] a chance to twist my words like the Sunday reports on this matter,” said MaMhlongo.

She said she is not prepared to speak about her relationship with Zuma.

The president’s spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, dismissed the rumours as “mischievous and baseless”.

MaMhlongo owns several businesses in Pietermaritzburg and lives with her two children.

She made headlines last year following an outcry over the awarding of a KZN Legislature tender for catering of snacks and lunches to her company.
