Mac's June activities

2008-06-03 00:00

The June exhibition at the Midlands Arts and Crafts Society (Macs) is a joint exhibition showcasing lace made by members of the local Lacemakers Guild and Macs members’ own lacework as well as antique lace. The exhibition will open on Thursday, June 5 at 10 am.

Opening at the same time in the 3D gallery is an exhibition of framed clay masks and hand painted ceramic vases by Dee Stevenson and Janine Byrne. All are welcome to attend the openings. Tea and snacks will be served.

The focus of Penny Forder’s Monday morning class during June (not on June 16) is to teach the drawing of faces and portraits. There needs to be a minimum of six students.

On Tuesdays, Jinny Heath’s painting class will look at specific technical and formal problems in depth for a month-long project. New students should have some art background.

The Macs Wednesday Art Club is an interactive group working in the medium and at the level of the student’s own choice.

The theme for June’s Creative Thursdays is jackets, coats and kimonos — with a quick detour into capes, skirts and/or pants. The four weeks will cover processes including dyeing, felt-making, knitting, painting and re-cycling. Teaching is by Macs’ teachers. And on Saturdays, Wild Knitting continues.
