Mall: Baby left locked in car while parents shop

2009-11-16 00:00

A BABY of about 18 months was left alone in a locked car while the parents went shopping in Liberty Midlands Mall.

A concerned customer alerted mall security, who tried to get an announcement made over the PA sytem, only to be told that it was not working. For about 30 minutes the tiny baby cried alone as a crowd gathered around the car.

All the windows were rolled up tight and condensation was evident on the windows. Customers suggested calling a locksmith, or the police, while a security officer tried to get help.

The parents arrived and were unwilling to comment. They bundled their shopping into the car and took off — not without a few stern words from mall security.
