Man accused of killing wife to return to court

2014-07-15 00:00

THE case of a man accused of stabbing and killing his wife was adjourned to August 13 following a brief hearing yesterday.

Bongani Anthony Zondi (44), of Willowfountain, is out on bail of R2 000 for the murder of his wife, Simangele Angelina Latha-Zondi, a teacher at Bhekuximba High School in the Vulindlela area, in April. Latha-Zondi was found in her bedroom with stab wounds. It was also alleged that she was beaten with a flat-screen television.

Zondi later handed himself over to police. However, the case was not enrolled due to a lack of evidence. Zondi was, however, later re-arrested.

Prosecutor Thandeka Mkhize told the court yesterday that they are still waiting for DNA results and the postmortem report. Zondi will be back in court on August 13.
