Man arrested after police stake-out

2012-02-13 00:00

A 28-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in the Pietermaritzburg city centre yesterday for being in possession of a stolen car. The car is believed to have been stolen in the city earlier this month.

On Thursday last week police received information that the stolen car had been sighted in lower Jabu Ndlovu Street.

The vehicle was stolen from a panel-beating shop in Hoosen Haffejee Street on the night of February 7, after thieves had removed the padlock on the gate.

Police found the unoccupied blue Mazda 323 parked on the side of the road on Thursday.

They staked out the scene and arrested a man who returned to the car.
