“MID-HUSBANDRY” is the term that could apply to Sandile Mswembezi.

He graduated top of his class in midwifery at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s (UKZN) faculty of health sciences graduation this week.

“Sandile succeeds in everything; it is just in his veins,” said Zanele Zondi, who teaches in the Midwifery Programme at UKZN.

“He is passionate and always concentrates in class,” she added.

Born and raised in a humble family in Mariannhill, Mswembezi was proud to have his mother, Khanyisile, at the graduation ceremony.

“I never imagined my son would become a graduate one day. He has taken us to the top,” she said.

Mswembezi said he was very excited to be graduating and enjoys helping to deliver new babies into the world.

“Hard work pays off,” he said.

Mswembezi is doing community service at King Edward VIII Hospital.
