A MAN aged 47 was arrested in Copesville on Saturday and faces a charge of murder and attempted murder after an attack at the weekend that left one man dead and another badly injured.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Joey Jeevan said Mountain Rise police received a report of a murder at Haniville in Copesville on Saturday evening.

Police found the body of a man aged about 30 with multiple injuries to his upper body.

Another victim, Anele Ngcongolo (25), was found on the scene also with multiple injuries to his upper body. He was taken to Northdale hospital for treatment.

Jeevan said the men were attacked with an iron pipe by a man they knew.

A suspect was arrested and will appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court shortly on a charge of murder and attempted murder.

Jeevan appealed to anyone who might have information about the attacks to call Colonel Chris Wiles of Mountain Rise detectives at 033 387 9621 or 079 500 1306.
