Man lucky to be alive

A MARGATE man who was out nightclubbing on Saturday night is lucky to be alive after he was struck on the head by an attacker in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to Captain Gerald Mfeka from the Margate SAPF, Gavin Cruywagen (24) was in Margate nightclub, Backline, when he was asked by a white male with brown hair to step outside so that the two of them could talk.

“The victim was then hit by something hard and he blacked out,” said Mfeka. He regained consciousness on the way to hospital in an ambulance, Mfeka added.

Cruywagen suffered a fractured skull and he was given three stitches to the head. An inquest docket has been opened, but no arrests have been made as yet,” Mfeka said.
