Man nabbed for drugs in PMB

2012-11-30 00:00

THE clampdown on drugs during the holiday season yesterday afternoon saw the arrest of a 40-year-old man in the Pietermaritzburg CBD.

Following up on information, police nabbed the suspect — believed to be from Imbali — in a joint operation between the Pietermaritzburg Cluster and Mountain Rise Drug Task teams as well as crime intelligence, spokesperson Joey Jeevan told The Witness.

He was found with 200 straws of whoonga and 10 “jaws” of crack cocaine. The drugs had a street value of about R60 000.

“Police believe the drugs were destined for sale in the

Pietermaritzburg CBD, and to school children in Imbali,” said Jeevan.

He is expected to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court today.
