Man pleads guilty to killing brother

2011-02-25 00:00

A MAN from Madiba informal settlement in Eastwood pleaded guilty yesterday to killing his brother by stabbing him 53 times on Sunday.

Sthembiso Patrick Mkhize (27) said he was angry at his brother after learning he had harassed his girlfriend the night before.

In a statement read to magistrate Paul Abelman, who convicted him of the murder, Mkhize said he returned home on the morning in question to find his girlfriend crying. It was not the first time the harassment had occurred, he said.

Prosecutor Pranisha Kasool asked that the case be postponed to Monday for the state to establish whether Mkhize has previous convictions.
