Man posting bail for brother arrested for housebreaking

A MAN was arrested at the Durban regional court for housebreaking while listening to his brother’s bail application for similar charges.

Both Mpanza brothers will now appear in the same courts on Friday this week in connection with the housebreaking allegations.

The crimes allegedly occurred in the Durban south area.

The Witness confirmed that Sanele Mpanza (24) was arrested while seated in court listening to his brother Dluxolo Mpanza’s (18) bail hearing last Wednesday.

He was there to post bail for him.

The latter is charged with burglaries at two homes at Yellowwood Park, south of Durban.

While Sanele Mpanza was attending the court appearance a detective from the Montclair SAPS in Durban identified him as a wanted suspect who was linked to a housebreaking in the Brighton Beach area last year.

Brighton Beach SAPS communications officer Captain Louise le Roux said he is allegedly connected via fingerprints at the scene.

“His identikit was circulated all over Durban police stations after the house break-in. Property valued at R30 000 was stolen during the robbery,” she said.

The brothers both appeared last Thursday at the Durban Regional Court and were denied bail, and were remanded to Westville Prison.
