Man shot in bar dispute

A MAN was shot and killed following an argument in a bar in Greytown on Thursday evening.

Sihle Ndlovu (32) died in hospital following a shooting sparked by an earlier argument with a Road Traffic Inspectorate officer.

Ndlovu had been sitting at the bar with the 22-year-old officer and an argument about money broke out between them.

It is alleged that the officer left the bar and returned with a gun and fired at Ndlovu, but missed. Ndlovu ran outside and the officer fired another shot and this time the bullet hit Ndlovu. He was rushed to hospital, but was certified dead on arrival.

SAPS spokeswoman Inspector Joey Jeevan said a gun believed to have been the murder weapon was found in the officer’s possession.

KwaZulu-Natal Transport, Safety and Community Liaison spokesman Bhekisisa Mncube said the department will acquire detailed information from the SA Police Service. “We will comment on the issue after getting relevant information …”
