A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been sentenced to an effective 15 years’ jail, having been found guilty of raping two sisters in Marburg two years ago, and robbing their home, police said yesterday.

Dumisani Mndiyatha (22) broke into a house in Marburg in June 2010, tied up a man and raped the women before making off with cellphones and jewellery.

His co-accused, Solani Lucas Khafu (27), is expected to appear in the Scottburgh High Court today.

Mndiyatha was sentenced to 10 years on each charge on Wednesday. Five years of his sentence for robbery were ordered to run concurrently with the rape sentence. — WR.
