Margate love quadrangle sees constable bludgeoned to death, dumped in car

DURBAN — A love quadrangle led to the death of a 34-year-old policeman and the arrest of his estranged wife and her alleged lover near Margate yesterday.

The wife (26) and a man (32) were arrested just hours after they had allegedly murdered her husband, a constable, in his bedroom and then tried to make his death look like like a motor accident.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Mdunge said the suspects had tried to make it look as if his car had crashed into a railing. But the officers who investigated the crash scene smelled a rat.

The constable was last seen alive on Tuesday, when his wife and her alleged lover reportedly followed him and saw him with another woman. When questioned, she reportedly told the police they had hit her husband over the head with a blunt object and stabbed him

The accused pair will soon appear in the Margate Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.
