Marijuana ‘nursery’ in Bisley bust

2014-08-01 00:00

A POLICE sting operation unearthed a dagga growing “nursery” in the suburbs of Bisley yesterday.

Police members from Crime Intelligence in Chatsworth and KwaDukuza, led by Captain Prakash Ramdhaw, stormed the house early yesterday morning and arrested a man working at the house. They also seized two cars and a motorcycle.

In the tranquil farm setting, surrounded by huge leafy trees and guarded by four Doberman dogs, the police discovered what appeared to be a large dagga nursery complete with state-of-the-art lighting.

The bathroom, laundry and other rooms inside the house had thousands of plants and seedlings ready for planting.

Sources close to the police said there were more than 2 000 plants being cultivated at the house in several rooms and a wendy house outside.

Police were acting on a tip-off.

The KwaZulu-Natal provincial office of the SA Police Services however said last night they had no information about the drug bust.
