Marikana: Buchan at mass reconciliation meet

2012-10-10 00:00

“NEW Beginning” – this is the name that churches in Rustenburg have given to their mass reconciliation meeting at which the KwaZulu-Natal evangelist Angus Buchan will preach on Saturday.

The mass meeting in the Olympia Park stadium was arranged after the Marikana shooting and continuing unrest at mines in the area.

Francois Burger, co-organiser of the meeting, said they were also working hard to get as many miners as possible to attend. Their mission is to reconcile and unite the rainbow nation.

Buchan said he had agreed to preach at the meeting if miners from the area would be in the gathering.

Burger said the mayor of Rustenburg had made the stadium available for the gathering, adding the Olympia Park stadium could host 35 000 people if chairs were placed on the athletics track around the soccer field.

Entry is free, but for security reasons, people have to collect their free tickets through i-ticket before Saturday.
