Maritzburg Varsity XI win KFC T20 games

2012-10-17 00:00

THE Maritzburg Varsity first XI won back-to-back KZN Inland KFC T20 matches over the weekend with Faizel Simon the key.

Simon’s miserly bowling against Zingari ensured a seven-run win in the morning despite a top performance from former KZN Inland all-rounder Lyndon Brown. In the afternoon, Simon was devastating with bat and ball to ensure that Varsity cruised home by six wickets against Young Natalians.

In Durban, the KZN Coastal Premier 50 League saw an unbeaten ton by Westville product Bruce Kruger.

KZN Inland Premier league cricketers return to a longer form of the game on Sunday with the first round of the Premier 50 competition.

In the KZN women’s 35-Over League, the Maritzburg Cricket Association XI (MCA) have a double head on Sunday, meeting Chatsworth United in the morning and Phoenix in the afternoon at Cato Manor grounds two and four.
