Market road tanker crash

2014-11-17 00:00

A TANKER hit a stationary car, veered off the southbound lane of the N3 highway and came to a stop in someone’s garden on Saturday night.

The incident happened just after the Market Road offramp.

Road Traffic Inspectorate spokesperson Colin Govender said the tanker allegedly hit a car that was parked in the emergency lane and left the road.

“Fortunately, no-one was seriously hurt. Only the truck driver sustained minor injuries.

“He was taken to hospital,” said Govender.

The tanker was removed from the scene early yesterday.

The tanker smashed through the garden wall into the yard, and hit an outbuilding causing the walls and roof to crumble, and cut power to the property.

The homeowner did not want to be named and the family declined to talk about the incident.
