Matric dance: he’s all mine, says Chad date

2012-09-29 00:00

THE dress, hair and makeup are ready. All that’s missing is Chad.

Melanie Olhaus of Glenvista High in Johannesburg said yesterday she was excited for her matric dance tonight, with Olympic swimming star Chad le Clos as her date.

“I’m not nervous,” she told sister paper Beeld. “I wish he was here already.”

Melanie asked Le Clos to be her date on a poster she held up at O.R. Tambo airport when he returned from the Olympics.

“I wanted to ask him in person, but it was impossible with all the people,” she said. “Fortuantely, someone else pointed my poster out to him.

“Nothing ventured, nothing gained, I thought.”

Le Clos tweeted yesterday that his dark blue suit was ready.

Melanie will be wearing a dark blue dress made for her by designer Gert-Johan Coetzee. She said she had already had a dress made, but when her celebrity date became known, Coetzee offered to make something special.

“It’s going to take people’s breath away.”

And she warned her friends: Chad’s all hers for the evening.
