Mayor: networking in the U.S.

MSUNDUZI Mayor Chris Ndlela left for Atlanta, Georgia, in the U.S. on Monday to attend the 39th National Conference of Black Mayors.

He is part of a 15-member delegation that includes eThekwini Mayor James Nxumalo.

The conference started yesterday and ends on June 2. The mayor is

expected back in Pietermaritzburg by Tuesday.

Msunduzi spokesperson Brian Zuma said the delegation would have the opportunity to network with individuals from around the world involved in the field of local government. More than 700 delegates are at the event.

The theme of this year’s convention is “Restore, rebuild, renew, leaving no city behind”.

Issues to be addressed are job creation, housing, health, sustainability, green technology, broadband, good governance and ethics.

The conference allows opportunities for delegates to access resources needed to benefit their communities.
