The theme of the Conference, 'Towards the accelerated industrial development for Africa: the need for local value addition and transformation of raw materials', seeks to strengthen and consolidate future planning around industry development on the continent.

Cami is a biennial event that provides a platform for African ministers of trade and industry to deliberate and seek solutions on a variety of issues. Its outcomes and recommendations are reported to the heads of governments during African Union (AU) summits.

The conference is a joint effort involving the Trade and Industry Department, the AU, and the UN Industrial Development Organisation.
